Gene Austin
Gene Austin was born in Gainesville, Texas, in 1900. He began his career as a vaudeville performer, but he soon found success as a recording artist. His first hit song, "My Blue Heaven," was released in 1927, and it quickly became one of the most popular songs of the decade. Austin continued to release hit songs throughout the 1930s, including "Ramona," "When My Sugar Walks Down the Street," and "Ain't She Sweet." He died in Palm Springs, California, in 1972.

Russ Columbo
Russ Columbo was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1908. He began his career as a bandleader, but he soon switched to singing. He became a popular recording artist in the late 1920s, and he was one of the first singers to use a microphone. Columbo's signature song, "Prisoner of Love," was released in 1931, and it became one of the biggest hits of that year. He died in a shooting accident in Beverly Hills, California, in 1934.
Bing Crosby
Bing Crosby was born in Tacoma, Washington, in 1903. He began his career as a singer with the Paul Whiteman Orchestra. He became a popular solo artist in the early 1930s, and he quickly became one of the most successful singers of all time. Crosby starred in a number of popular films, including "Going My Way" (1944),"The Bells of St. Mary's" (1945),and "White Christmas" (1954). He died in Madrid, Spain, in 1977.
Nick Lucas
Nick Lucas was born in Newark, New Jersey, in 1897. He began his career as a vaudeville performer, but he soon found success as a recording artist. His first hit song, "Tip-Toe-Thru'-the-Tulips with Me," was released in 1923, and it quickly became one of the most popular songs of the decade. Lucas continued to release hit songs throughout the 1920s and 1930s, including "My Blue Heaven," "Lazy River," and "You're the One for Me." He died in New York City in 1980.
Johnny Marvin
Johnny Marvin was born in New York City in 1917. He began his career as a singer with the Glenn Miller Orchestra. He became a popular solo artist in the early 1940s, and he quickly became one of the most successful singers of that era. Marvin starred in a number of popular films, including "Anchors Aweigh" (1945),"Till the End of Time" (1946),and "The Jolson Story" (1946). He died in London, England, in 1998.
Rudy Vallee
Rudy Vallee was born in Island Pond, Vermont, in 1901. He began his career as a bandleader, but he soon switched to singing. He became a popular recording artist in the late 1920s, and he was one of the first singers to use a microphone. Vallee's signature song, "My Time Is Your Time," was released in 1929, and it became one of the biggest hits of that year. He died in Palm Desert, California, in 1986.
