After the war, Puller served as the commander of the 1st Marine Division in Korea. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for his actions during the Battle of Inchon. He was also awarded the Silver Star for his actions during the Battle of Chosin Reservoir.

Puller retired from the Navy in 1955. He died in 1971. He is buried in Arlington National Cemetery.

The Battle of Inchon

The Battle of Inchon was a landing operation that took place on September 15, 1950. The operation was led by General Douglas MacArthur and involved the landing of over 75,000 troops on the beaches of Inchon, South Korea. The operation was a success and helped to turn the tide of the Korean War.

Puller commanded the 1st Marine Regiment during the Battle of Inchon. He was responsible for leading the assault on the beachhead. The Marines faced heavy opposition from the North Korean army, but they were able to secure the beachhead and establish a foothold on the Korean peninsula.

Puller's actions during the Battle of Inchon earned him the Medal of Honor. He was cited for his "conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty." He was also awarded the Navy Cross for his actions during the Battle of Chosin Reservoir.

Legacy

Captain Superlative Puller was a highly decorated and respected naval officer. He was a true American hero who served his country with distinction. His legacy continues to inspire Marines and sailors to this day.

There are several memorials to Puller in the United States. The most notable memorial is the Puller Memorial in Quantico, Virginia. The memorial is a bronze statue of Puller that stands on a granite pedestal. The memorial is inscribed with the following quote from Puller:

"There is no substitute for victory."

The Puller Memorial is a fitting tribute to a great American hero. It is a reminder of the sacrifices that he made for his country and the legacy that he left behind.
